In April 2016, drones (UAVs) often haunted some prisons in Fuzhou late at night, and hovered over the prison buildings, teaching buildings, administrative office buildings and armed poli ce barracks in prison. The Procuratorate of Gushan District, Fuzhou, said that drones hovered over the prison, which may have major hidden dangers such as dropping dangerous goods and shooting supervision facilities, affecting the safety of prison management.
In 2017, South Carolina, the United States, reported more than 28 cases of UAV prison smuggling. In some cases, prisoners escaped from drone delivery after obtaining mobile phones, while others fought each other.
With the popularity of civil UAVs, UAVs similar to those mentioned above have been used in prison smuggling, breaking into the prison air, secretly taking photos and other acts, and more and more prison management institutions have begun to strengthen UAV prevention and control capabilities.
